Meet HMSA's Health Educators

Whether your goal is to quit smoking, manage stress, prepare healthier meals, or become more active, HMSA's health educators can help you get there. Knowledgeable, helpful – and most of all, dedicated to helping you – our health educators and their classes can help make healthy lifestyle choices easier for you.


 

Pete Clines
B.S. in Exercise Science. Certified personal trainer and fitness consultant. Body Power and Body Force programs expert. Enjoys hiking, biking, jogging and weight training.


 

Gene Corpuz
B.S. in Biology; M.S. in Public Health. Certified health education specialist. When not pursuing his passion for teaching, Gene enjoys running, country dancing and singing.


 

Jeff Kennedy
B.A. in Communications. Certified clinical exercise specialist, lifestyle and weight management consultant. Jeff enjoys working with health challenged special populations.


 

Linda Lanning
B.A. in Fine Arts. Linda is also a registered nurse and Health Sciences graduate with a focus on patient education. She is a Rotarian and an active volunteer in her Kona community.


 

Rodney Lavarias
B.A. in Physical Education. Rodney is an ACE certified personal trainer, experienced in physical therapy and sports medicine. He enjoys weight-lifting, running, and martial arts.


 

Stephen McCall
B.A. in Education; with coursework in human anatomy, physiology, medical microbiology, and psychology. Steve is an ACE certified personal trainer, a vegetarian and an avid bicyclist.


 

Lei Shinoda
B.A. in English Literature. Pursued a medical degree until she found her true passion in health education. Lei bakes for fun, is a taiko drummer, bicyclist and rock climber in Hilo.
